Pencil, cleaned up in Adobe Photoshop

Started and finished in 6 hours so excuse rushed-ness in the line work. This is a draft concept (I guess you could say) for a character that may or may not be used in a children's book that an acquaintance of mine is starting. I used the sketch for a "tradigital" class so I could make it purty.

For rushed, that line-work looks pretty damn good.

This is really cool.
I like the textures added to everything but her skin....and she gives off such an attitude!

Artist Statement

I draw for the purpose of letting my imagination take form; so that others can see things things as I; to give life to creations that have never been fathomed. I create things both beautiful and dreadful, joyous and somber, and every other contradiction under the vast clouds of verbs and other words. I design to let my mind breath, to allow a new storm of ideas flood my head until I am but a stringed-up tool to those very ideas that yearn their release.

I use, most often for my artwork, a simple pencil: mechinal, graphite, etc. I use it for the most basic sketches to which I build upon with other media such as paint (watercolor, acrylic and oil), ink (always black), or digial art (adobe photoshop [photomanipulations], adobe illustrator, corel painter and open canvas)

I enjoy the idea of opposites and this concept shows through to my work in the form of complementary colors, bold colors vs. neutrals, or interesting subjects vs. simple backgrounds and vice versa.

I adore mythology in all its forms, tall tales, legends- you name it. Through this I have discovered my style, my knack of twisting real-life situations to be more satirical (in literature one could describe this as "magical realism"). I also admire the mindset of every creature's creator because of their ability to correctly translate their innermost thoughts to paper (A process I continue to both struggle with and perfect).

I have stepped into the shallow end of every area of art- in some areas I am more submersed (illustartion, graphic design and painting) but in others I have just begun (printmaking, sculpturing [and I'm sure there are more]). Each course I've taken has either been at the highschool (all four years) or freshman college level.

I am young and somewhat naive but I sure as hell try my hardest at every piece I make. C'est la fin, merci pour vos temps.
